“Glee” Cast Should Host Tonys
Since the Tony nominations overlooked familiar mainstream faces like Hugh Jackman and Nathan Lane, the telecast on June 13 is going to be seriously lacking in starpower. Which means: even-lower-than-usual ratings. The obvious idea to boost eyeballs would be to have a great host. My suggestion: Matthew Morrison (pictured) and the kids from “Glee.” It would boost ratings and draw younger viewers. Unfortunately, I seriously doubt that Fox, which is “Glee”‘s network, will let Morrison et al host a show on CBS. Neil Patrick Harris, who is in the CBS stable and who did a perfectly fine hosting job last year, will probably get the nod. Meanwhile, the Emmys — which take place almost three months after the Tonys — have already named their host: Jimmy Fallon.
