“Orphans”, “Scottsboro” Win Lortel Awards
Michael Urie, Judith Ivey, The Glass Menagerie and director David Cromer are among winners of the 25th Lucille Lortel Awards, celebrating excellence in the 2009-10 Off-Broadway season. The awards were handed out May 2 in a New York City ceremony hosted by Bebe Neuwirth and Bryan Batt.
In production categories, The Scottsboro Boys by David Thompson, John Kander and Fred Ebb was named Outstanding Musical, and The Orphans’ Home Cycle, the nine-chapter series of Texas-set plays by Horton Foote, was named Outstanding Play.
The Lincoln Center Theater production of “When The Rain Stops Falling” won the most awards, five. And LCT won a special award for Outstanding Body of Work.
