“Hurt” Pushback; “Basterds” Rabbis
As the voting for the Oscars wound down, partisans of “The Hurt Locker” and “Inglourious Basterds” kept trying to shill for their pictures. The recent articles in which military vets challenged “The Hurt Locker”‘s accuracy were counter-balanced by an ABC news report quoting former bomb-deactivation specialists. And, in the “Basterds” camp, several L.A. rabbis have written articles in which they describe the flick as a modern-day retelling of the story of Purim, a Jewish holiday which began yesterday. That Harvey Weinstein (shown here with Quentin Tarantino), he works all the angles.
