Rufus Talks About His Mother
The mother of Rufus Wainwrright, singer-songwriter Kate McGarrigle, passed away last month. Rufus wrote his song “Zebulon” about her when she was in the hospital. I understand those who find Rufus’s singing droning and monotonous, and I really understand those who found his Judy Garland concert an exercise in near-narcissism, but he’s certainly an artist.
