Make Oscars More Like Super Bowl?
As proof that we have now entered the Oscars’ static season (the contest put in the deep freeze for the fortnight of the Winter Olympics), the L.A. Times has published its annual urging to the Academy as to how to “improve” the Academy Awards telecast. This year’s suggestion: make Oscar night more like the Super Bowl. Isn’t enough that one of this year’s Best Pic noms (and likely Best Actress) comes from a football movie, “The Blind Side”; do we have to turn the whole thing into a football match, too?
