J.D. Salinger Dies: A Question
My first thought when I read a few minutes ago that J.D. Salinger had died: will there be a movie now? A movie, of course, of “Catcher in the Rye,” Salinger’s best-known work and one of the classics of American literature. Perhaps it’s one of those stories that’s best not to splash onscreen, and undoubtedly Salinger gave explicit instructions in his will for no movie rights to be sold. But heirs have a way of countermanding instructions when they need money to pay taxes, etc. We’ll see.
