BAFTA Noms Announced
The latest round of the pre-Oscars derby occurred today, when the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced its nominations. Some years, BAFTA winners are predictors of Oscar winners, but not so much this year, I’d wager. They’ll probably give Best Actress, for example, to one of their own, Carey Mulligan (“An Education”). Meanwhile, that Oscar race is between Streep and Bullock. Also, BAFTA makes some perverse choices, like nomming Andy Serkis for “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll” for Best Actor.
