Does Jodie Foster Know About This?
The Beaver is not only about history — it is history. No, this venerable Canadian magazine is not folding, but it is changing its name to Canada’s History. Deborah Morrison, President of Canada’s National Historical Society, explained the change in a sound byte worthy of Monty Python. “Use of the word ‘beaver’ on the Internet has taken on an identity that nobody could have perceived in 1920. And increasingly, if we put ‘The Beaver’ in a heading, we would be spam-filtered out.” This societal change seems not to bother Jodie Foster, however. Her new movie, in which she co-stars with Mel Gibson (their chemistry in “Maverick” was sizzling, wasn’t it?), is titled: “The Beaver.”
