Oscar Goal: Ratchet Up Funny
Adam Shankman, one of next year’s Oscar producers, says the goal of the broadcast will be to “ratchet up the funny.” Will the selection of Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin as hosts help? Certainly, both guys are intelligent, classy, and skilled in irony. But I don’t see anyone in my family under the age of 40 tuning in to the show to watch either of them.
