Martha Wainwright Channels Piaf
Martha Wainwright has recorded an album of Edith Piaf songs. Here she explains her passion for the tragic singer: “Edith Piaf was a favourite singer of mine when I was a kid. Aged seven or eight, my brother Rufus and I would belt out her songs, particularly ‘Milord,’ at the tops of our voices.” What? Rufus Wainwright waited until age eight to start singing Piaf? But he was already belting out Judy Garland at five!
She was seven or eight, isn’t Rufus younger? Ha!
