Green Day Musical: The Latest
Michael Mayer, the director of the Green Day musical “American Idiot” (pictured), told lemonwade last night that the show is almost certainly headed to Broadway. The problem is that, at the moment, there’s no available theatre with the right dimensions to hold the show. I can think of a few things — “Mamma Mia,” anyone? — I’d like to shove out to make a home for Green Day. More likely: when the Neil Simon plays finish their run at the Nederlander, “American Idiot” could go there. (That’s the place where “Rent” played.)
