“Carrie” The Musical: It’s Baaa-ack!

The infamously short-lived 1988 Broadway musical Carrie, based on the Stephen King horror novel and so famous that it provided the title for Ken Mandelbaum’s book about all-time Broadway bombs (“Not Since Carrie”), will have a private reading in Manhattan in November. And, no, it won’t star Barbara Cook, who did a 1988 RSC production in London where she was almost killed by wayward scenery. Betty Buckley took over the role on Broadway, featured in the bootleg video above.
