Lagerfeld Makes Hay In Paris
Karl Lagerfeld’s spring/summer collection for Chanel, shown today in Paris, was a romp in the hay. The Kaiser himself showed up onstage, shown with three models, to imbibe Hee-Haw virtue. Lagerfeld’s been renovating a farmhouse in Vermont, so I guess he got all inspired. Commenting on the show, the designer was right to invoke Marie Antoinette in her mock-shepherdess phase — Lagerfeld’s no more convincing a hick than she was.
