Rio Wins Games; Obama Bashed
The American media, ever-ready to bash Obama, is presenting the Olympic committee’s decision today to award the 2016 summer games to Rio rather than to Chicago as a “shocking defeat.” Hogwash! Rio was always the favorite over Chi-town, Madrid, and Tokyo. Madrid wasn’t going to win because that would have meant three out of four of the last Summer Olympics awards were European. Tokyo has already hosted the games (though long ago, 1964). Plenty of world leaders have made pitches for their countries and lost. Obama — and the USA — will get over it.
