2016 Olympics: Tokyo Or Rio?
The preliminary report of the International Olympic Committee seems to favor Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro for the site of the 2016 Summer Olympics. Chicago and Madrid are also in the running. I’d love to see the games in Chicago, but that looks unlikely. South America has never hosted the event, which makes me long for Rio to be chosen. The smart money is on Tokyo, which hosted the 1964 Olympics. The 2012 games are in London, so I doubt the committee will go back to Europe (i.e. Madrid) right away. The decision will be made Oct. 2 in Copenhagen.
