Real Stars Knock Miley From No. 1
British astronomers who led the first global online meteor-watch announced with pride today that they had managed to displace Miley Cyrus as the “top trending topic” on Twitter. For those lucky enough to have avoided “Hannah Montana,” Cyrus is the brightest young star in the Disney firmament, aged just 16 but already a successful actress, singer and author. Under the hashtag #WeLoveYouMiley, she dominates Twitter much as Britney Spears dominated Google searches a couple of years ago. But last night, a bunch of amateur astronomers from Newbury, Berkshire, managed to grab the top spot for their #meteorwatch tag – and helped introduce a new generation to the annual Perseid meteor shower at the same time.
