Jodie, Mel To Play With “The Beaver”
Just when you think that Jodie Foster has entered a graceful Hollywood middle age, she announces that she will direct a movie called “The Beaver.” (Insert tasteless joke here.) What’s more, the flick will be headlined by Mel Gibson, with whom Foster starred in the 1994 movie “Maverick,” in which they have possibly the least convincing heterosexual love scene in the history of cinema. Apparently, Foster didn’t get that memo: she’ll play Gibson’s wife. In other news, Gibson’s character is a depressed man who finds solace in wearing a beaver hand-puppet. And you thought the only wacko news of the week concerned Sarah Palin.
