Oh, Those Silly Scots!
Edinburgh, Scotland conjures favorable thoughts: summers devoted to the arts, restaurants with quirky cuisine, cool cloudy days (rather like the ones that we are having right now in New York’s weirdest wettest June on record). But Edinburgh’s festivals can also be unreliable. The city’s film festival is going on right now, and Sam Mendes’ movie, “Away We Go,” (pictured) which I found annoyingly smug about middle America, and overall rather unfunny, got a great reception there.
