Warming Up To NPH
To dissipate any last minute head shaking over the choice of Neil Patrick Harris (pictured), star of “How I Met Your Mother”, as the host for Sunday’s Tony Awards, especially after Hugh Jackman’s Oscars and the unfortunately reticent James Gandolfini turned the Tony’s down, Playbill has written an article with all the muscle to back him up. Harris’ performances in “Proof”, “Cabaret”, and most notably, “Assassins” have earned him the respect and admiration of Broadway. On top of that, he’s hosted several awards shows, most recently the TV Land Awards 2009, which prompted the lunch meeting that landed his current hostmanship (new word, recently invented). So I hope that many will look forward to NPH on Sunday as much as I am, he is certainly a qualified host.
