“Estate” Moves To Hartford
The recent Broadway production of Horton Foote’s “Dividing the Estate,” which is nominated for a 2009 Tony for Best Play, and which in my humble opinion deserves the award (full disclosure: I worked on the production last fall when it was on Broadway), begins performances tonight at Hartford Stage. Hartford Stage artistic director Michael Wilson, who also staged the Broadway and Off-Broadway engagements of “‘Estate,” reunites with much of the original cast for the production of the late Foote’s play. Performances will continue through July 5. Lois Smith replaces Elizabeth Ashley as the matriarch, a switch that will have me on the train to Hartford.
