Soldiers Ached For Donna Reed
Actress Donna Reed, whom I always thought of as a dutiful housewife from movies (“It’s A Wonderful Life”) and television (“The Donna Reed Show”), was actually a pin-up girl during World War II. According to a new article, Reed, who died in 1986, saved hundreds of letters from star-struck World War II servicemen whose thoughts about her were not entirely chaste. Reed’s children discovered the letters in a shoebox.
