Green Day Sticks It To The Man
Green Day (pictured), whose latest album “21st Century Breakdown” is a hot commodity across the nation, will not be selling its album in Walmart, the country’s largest music retailer. According to Billie Joe Armstrong, the band’s frontman, ‘Wal-Mart’s become the biggest retail outlet in the country, but they won’t carry our record because they wanted us to censor it.’ I say, ‘Hell no, we won’t go.’ There are, in my opinion, two ways to be ‘punk rock‘ with one central message. The message is, fight for what you believe in, and the two methodologies are to either use the system to work for you, when it works for you, or to fight against it. I am now even more heavily debating catching Green Day live tomorrow in Central Park on Good Morning America . . . at 7am. We’ll see.
