“Agora” Screens At Cannes
Alejandro Amenabar directed two wonderful movies: “The Sea Inside,” starring Javier Bardem as a man wanting to take his own life, and “The Others,” a supernatural thriller with Nicole Kidman at her best. Amenabar’s new movie, “Agora,” just screened at Cannes. Starring Rachel Weisz (pictured) and set in Alexandria, Egypt in 4th century B.C. (trailer here), “Agora,” according to blogger Jeffrey Wells, is “is a visually ravishing, intelligently scripted historical parable about the evils of religious extremism.” Can’t wait.
