Gandolfini: ‘Fuggedaboutit’
Charlotte St. Martin and Howard Sherman were not successful when they asked James Gandolfini (pictured), aka Tony Soprano, who is nominated for his performance in “God of Carnage,” to host the Tony Awards. The actor, who alternatively scares the daylights out of people and impresses them with his modesty and charm, refused the invitation, wanting only to attend. For an actor who has generously shrugged off the spotlight, to the point of only doing interviews with the other members of the star studded “Carnage” cast, the choice is not surprising, although the NY Post is disappointed to miss the opportunity to see Gandolfini don a tutu in honor of the uber-nominated “Billy Eilliot.” The question now remains: Who Will Host the Tonys?
