Kipen Avoids Eating “Mockingbird”
David Kipen, the literature director of the National Endowment for the Arts, promised to eat a copy of Harper Lee’s “To Kill A Mockingbird” if the entire population of Kelleys Island, Ohio didn’t read the novel as part of a community literacy scheme. Well, the residents all complied, so Kipen didn’t have to eat mockingbird — or crow.
