Dolly’s Bitter First Big Apple Bite
In 1968, Dolly Parton (pictured) visited the Big Apple with a girlfriend. It was only her second visit, but after almost pulling a gun on a man who believed she was a hooker and then being turned out of her hotel for turning tricks, the ‘backwoods barbie’ had understandably hard feelings towards the city that never sleeps. Hopefully, with the inevitable commercial success of her fun and feminine new musical ‘9 to 5’ which opens today, she will let bygones be bygones and enjoy herself.
