‘Slumdog’ Girl For Sale?
In a sad development, Rafiq Qureshi, the father of Rubina Ali, one of the child star’s of Oscar-topping ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, was alleged to be offering his daughter for sale at the cost of £200,000 (about $400,000). The full story is sadder, because the tactless and vile News of the World, a British Tabloid, sent journalists masquerading as emissaries of an Arab sheik to inquire about buying the girl. Whether or not the father made the offered or just considered it, I find the new-low that NOTW took to acquire this admittedly base reaction far more disgusting.
