Baseball Vs. B’way: B’way Wins
The average seat price in the new $1.5 billion Yankees stadium is $72.97. Of course, that’s for a seat nowhere near home plate. The average price for a Broadway-musical ticket is about the same. (Keep in mind that Broadway has all kinds of legitimate discount offers at all times, including Internet sales and the half-price booth in Times Square. Yankee Stadium has scalpers.) For that seventy-three dollars, you’re within spitball-firing distance of the action. Plus the running time isn’t baseball’s three-hours-plus, unless it’s the latest revival of “Les Miz.” Therefore: in this battle of New York’s top entertainment options, I’m going to have to go with Broadway.
