Invisible Theatre: Take To The Streets
A new form of theatre is being revived, a form that knows no shame in breaking with hitherto established theatre. The new form, called invisible theatre, was originally conceived 40 years ago by Augusto Boal. He determined that the new move for theatre was to the streets, taking rehearsed improvs and scenes to unsuspecting audiences. The torch has been passed to a new generation, led by a performer who calls himself Dermo. The idea is to invite a small group of unsuspecting audience members into a world of naturalistic choreographed scene work, performed by actors, where the ‘audience’ leaves none the wiser to the art they have just witnessed, ergo, it is invisible art.
