“Hair” Star: “Yup, I’m Gay”
I don’t think a musical-theatre star coming out of the closet is going to startle the horses, or Bill O’Reilly, or even the Catholic League. Still, it is news: Gavin Creel (pictured), who stars in the transfer of “Hair” from Central Park to Broadway (and which opens tonight), has just made it official that he’s a Friend of Dorothy. He’s following in the big gay footsteps of Jonathan Groff, who did the same role, Claude, in the Park. Neither guy joins the cast in the nude scene. Since when did homos become prudes?
