“Priscilla”‘s Perfect Party
The musical version of “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” opened this week in London. Judging from the wildly mixed reviews, I’m not sure I want to see the show, but I most definitely would have liked to attend the opening-night party. According to this report, guests at the after-party ‘were met by a pair of towering queens called Kandi-Kane Baxter and Heidi Licious, who twinkled in pink and offered air kisses to the likes of Elaine Page and Zandra Rhodes as they entered London’s Hippodrome. The venue’s interior had been transformed to resemble a giant, glitterballed 1980s disco lounge, with delights including mischievously named finger-food such as “sausage surprise” and “Bernadette’s Buttoned-up salad,” as well a show-stopping floorshow, complete with dancers and a surprise visit from the legendary Motown singer, Charlene, who sang her classic, “I’ve Never Been to Me.”‘
