Green Day Sets Date For New Album
California Punk Legends Green Day have announced a Friday release date for their forthcoming album “21st Century Breakdown”. The band’s frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, announced the album would be released Friday, May 15th, as reported to Rolling Stone. Like Green Day’s 2004 Grammy-Award winning “American Idiot”, the album’s 16 songs will be arranged into three ‘acts’: Heroes and Cons, Charlatans and Saints, Horseshoes and Handgrenades. As a long time fan, I am looking forward to another album to push Green Day past a ‘post-prime-sold-out-pop-punk‘ classification into the more lasting and respectful category of ‘innovative musicians’. “American Idiot” was one small step for Green Day, and I hope this is that giant leap they deserve.
