Blago Invites Spoof Cast On Air
I know he’s had his 15 minutes, but ex-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (pictured running outside Chicago’s Shakespeare Theatre) aches for more. He invited the cast of Second City’s “Rod Blagojevich Superstar,” a merciless spoof of the disgraced politician’s recent shenanigans, alleged and otherwise, to appear with him on the radio this morning. He was joined by the fake Roland Burris, the fake Lisa Madigan, and the fake Dick Mell. The musical first opened in early February on the Second City e.t.c. stage and draws on the taped antics of the former governor, his famous wavy locks, his media tour. Perhaps they performed one of the show’s signature numbers, replete with the line “Rod Blagojevich Superstar / Are you as nuts as we think you are?”
