Smashing Pumpkins Lose Drummer
Smashing Pumpkins original drummer, Jimmy Chamberlain (pictured), has decided to leave the band, according to New York Mag’s The Vulture. The announcement went up in a brief note on the band’s website. Chamberlain has been with the band since it was founded by singer-guitarist Bill Corgan (also pictured) in 1988. He has played on every studio album except 1998’s “Adore” and was the only original member, besides Corgan, to play in the 20th anniversary tour when the band reformed in 2006 after six years apart. Corgan said the band ‘will continue to write and record as Smashing Pumpkins with plans to head into the studio this spring‘.
