Ron Silver Dies At 62
The actor Ron Silver (pictured) died from cancer yesterday at the age of 62. Some of the obituaries I’ve read have focused unduly on his politics; in the wake of 9/11, he supported the Bush administration’s invasion of Iraq and also backed Rudolph Giuliani in New York City. I’m going to remember him for his performances: the movies “Reversal of Fortune” and “Enemies,” and, even more vivid, his stage work in “Speed-the-Plow.” Most of all I’m going to remember him for his corruscating portrayal of rock ‘n’ roll impresario Bill Graham in the one-man show, “Bill Graham Presents,” written by Robert Greenfield and directed by my friend Ethan Silverman. Pace tua, Ron.
