“Night Music” Moving; B’way Next?
Playbill reports that the Menier Chocolate Factory‘s current production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s 1973 Broadway musical “A Little Night Music” — directed by Tony Award winner Trevor Nunn and starring Hannah Waddingham (pictured) — will transfer to the West End’s Garrick Theatre, in London. LemonWade can assure you that there have been serious discussions about bringing this production to Broadway, where there has, alas, been no “Night Music” since the original 1973 staging closed. I can’t get too bothered by the fact that almost every Broadway revival of Sondheim this decade seems to come from London; I’m too busy getting excited about the tasty-looking “Night Music” that’s happening in White Plains in March.
