Are Actors Becoming Obsolete?
The wizardly advances of “Benjamin Button” have revived the debate: is technology making human performers like Brad Pitt dispensable? (Possible upside of that development: more actors will clamor to work in the theatre.) For a long time, actors pooh-poohed the technological advances by saying: facsimiles can’t provide a full range of recognizable human emotion. But, increasingly, neither can Botox-ed actors like Nicole Kidman et al.
