“Guffman” Bound For Broadway?
This has to be today’s consummation devoutly to be wished: that “Waiting for Guffman,” Christopher Guest’s comedy about a small-town amateur theatre deluded into thinking its show will make it to Broadway, is actually heading for Broadway. I can’t believe there are many people reading this site who don’t know this movie mockumentary’s plot, so here’s the shorthand: the troupe is producing a musical called “Red, White, and Blaine,” to celebrate the sesquicentennial of Blaine, Missouri — the stool capital of the world (no, not that kind!) Fred Willard and Parker Posey are among the stars. Click here to learn more about this rumor, and here to watch a video clip from the movie.
