Bollywood Star Attacks “Slumdog”
Now that it’s top dog in the awards sweepstakes, it’s inevitable that it’s going to be attacked. The latest naysayer about “Slumdog Millionaire” is Amitabh Bachchan (pictured), Bollywood’s top actor and perhaps one of the most famous faces in the world. He has voiced bitter comments about the movie’s portrayal of India. He writes: “If ‘SM’ projects India as [a] third-world, dirty, underbelly developing nation and causes pain and disgust among nationalists and patriots, let it be known that a murky underbelly exists and thrives even in the most developed nations.”
That was the best movie I saw this year, and I saw almost all of the contenders. I hope it sweeps the Oscars like it swept the GGs!
