Enough of the Doom and Gloom!
Okay, all right: the economy is in the toilet, and the news is going to get worse throughout 2009. But that doesn’t mean that editors have to keep capsizing newspapers and websites with watery pieces like this one, about how “bad times make good movies.” There were also great movies produced in the 1950s and 60s, when the economy was booming, and endless piles of shitty studio product churned out in the 1930s. So enough with the Depression-era generalizations, please!
