Stalin’s Favorite Ballerina Dies
Olga Lepeshinskaya (pictured), 92, the Bolshoi Ballet’s prima ballerina for three decades during the Soviet era, died Dec. 20 at her home in Moscow. Reportedly, she was Stalin’s favorite dancer; he dubbed her “dragonfly.” The all-male Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, who are performing this week in New York, should get right on this.
