Raul: A Servant of Two Masters
David Mamet is arguably the greatest living American playwright. Stephen Sondheim is undoubtedly the greatest living American musical-theatre creator. So why should it be a surprise that when there was a technical malfunction this past weekend at a performance of Mamet’s “Speed-the-Plow,” on Broadway, that star Raul Esparza (pictured), should have entertained the audience by singing “Marry Me A Little”? Ah, the joys of live performance.
