Globe Noms: More Analysis
LemonWade awards analyst Rex Okpodu has added a few trenchant thoughts to my remarks on today’s Golden Globe nominations — after the jump.
1) Don’t worry too much about the failure of “Milk” to score a Best Picture nominations. The DGA and SAG nominations will be a better predictor of the Oscars than the Globes are.
2) “Mamma Mia!” will win the Best Musical/Comedy award at the Globes but it won’t get a Best Picture Oscar nomination.
3) Dustin Hoffman received a Best Actor/Comedy nom from the Globes for “Last Chance Harvey.” If he also gets a SAG nomination, he could sneak into the Oscar race.
4) The Globes’ Best Actor/Drama list (Penn, Langella, Pitt, Rourke, DiCaprio) will probably be the Oscar list for Best Actor, although Clint Eastwood (“Gran Torino”) could replace DiCaprio.
