“Brokeback Mountain” was shown on Italian state-controlled television this week, and the love scenes, which hardly count as physically explicit, were expurgated. We’re back to the days when Rhett Butler could carry Scarlett O’Hara up to the bedroom and the next thing we see is Scarlett the next morning, smiling as if she’d got the canary.
