Spirit Awards Noms Announced
The nominees for this year’s Independent Spirit Awards were announced today. Although the line between indie cinema and studio cinema is basically what the talent takes as remuneration, the Spirit awards continue to honor flicks that don’t have a chance at the Oscars. In this year’s list, I’m especially glad to see that Margaret Brown’s “The Order of Myths, about Mardi Gras in Mobile, was nominated. The Academy Awards’ documentary committee shunned it.
