Edith Smooches “South Pacific” Guys
Among the many hats I wear is that of Backstage Blogger for Lincoln Center Theater. In that role, for the past 11 months, I’ve been following the hit production of “South Pacific.” I thought I’d seen it all with the cast and crew in that show, but yesterday brought another highlight. Some of the Navy guys in the cast re-created the famous V-J Day photo from Times Square in August of 1945, with the now-90-year woman who was in it, Edith Shain, who tomorrow will be a grand marshall in the Veterans Day parade. The original was taken by Alfred Eisenstadt.
