Palin Brings Smokin’ Ratings
Who can be surprised that Sarah Palin‘s appearance last night on “Saturday Night Live” got that program its best ratings in 14 years? The numbers show once again that Palin’s success is as a celebrity not as a serious candidate for President (which is, let’s face it, the only real job requirement of the VP slot). “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels (who is a McCain contributor, by the way) barely offered the governor a challenge: Amy Poehler did all the huffing and puffing in the Weekend Update skit, and Alec Baldwin did the only work in the earlier segment with Miss Sarah. McCain, Obama, and Hillary Clinton, in their previous “SNL” appearances, all showed themselves to be much better performers than SP. She’s not only a flimsy candidate; she’s a bad actor.
