Recession: Show Biz Prospects
So who will be show biz’s “winners” and “losers” in our deepening recession? According to this article, DVD sales, theme parks, and too-serious movies will take a hit, while pay TV, online entertainment, and movie box office (at least for comedies with Chihuahuas) are seen as more resilient. Personally, I’ve noticed that anything free is hotting up big-time: when I go to my local public library, the lines to check out books and especially DVDs are longer than ever.
