“Brokeback” Fans: Proulx Unhappy
Sorry, but I don’t have much sympathy for writer Annie Proulx (pictured), 73, who complains in a new interview that she has been pestered with “pornish†letters sent by fans of the book about two cowboys and their gay passions. When you have a hit as big as “Brokeback Mountain,” you have to expect some cranks will be part of the bargain. As Ennis would say, you have to stand it. Millions of writers around the world would love to have Proulx’s “difficulty.” It’s what a therapist I once had called “a golden problem.” Get over it, Annie.
