After Truman Capote expired, in 1984, Gore Vidal, in a famous bon (or mechant?) mot, called the death “a good career move.” And so it is with novelist David Foster Wallace, who passed away this weekend, an apparent suicide. Wallace’s best-known work, the endlessly long novel “Infinite Jest,” known to lovers of literature but not to a wide reading public, has rocketed up on Amazon.com.
